We are fortunate in Australia that early intervention is a strong focus. It makes such a difference! We have a programme called Better Start which provides families with $12,000 funding to purchase the services they need for their children.

One young boy I know has done so well with a companion dog, and iPad, and sessions at a sensory gym. Something I found out recently is that children with ASD are advised to go to a Behavioural Optometrist who is able to determine any difficulties with depth perception and other sensitivities related to their sight, which can affect how they relate to the world.
