The Parent Infant Clinic
The Parent Infant Clinic is a private Clinic staffed by
Child and Adult Psychotherapists and other professionals specializing in the emotional and mental health of infants. The Clinic provides assessment and treatment to parents with infants and toddlers and consultations to primary care givers. The approach is psychodynamic. The clinic is also a forum for education.
Our Services
Assessment - Meetings with the parent and child in their home and/or in the consulting rooms of the staff member. This time is used to learn about the families' needs and decide with the parents what will be most helpful for them and their child.
Treatment - Talking and thinking around children's individuality and needs, around parents' changing needs and around difficulties between parents and child. The number of sessions will vary according to the case, from brief and crisis intervention to intensive treatment.
Programmes...for infants...we work to meet your infant’s needs.
Parents and their baby are assessed both individually and as part of the family.
We offer both short term and longer term therapeutic treatments, as well as specialised intensive treatments. The length of treatment necessary is dependent upon the infant's age, severity of the parent's concerns and ability of their baby to assimilate change.
Short term treatments can be undertaken in London over a period of 1 to 3 months,
or in the hometown by one of us travelling. These usually involve between 1 to 10 consultation/treatment sessions, each one lasting up to two hours. (
see Infant Family Program)
Longer term treatments - six months to two years of individual treatment either weekly or fortnightly.
For families - An intensive family program (our "Infant-Family Program”) is also available for infants exhibiting pre-autistic behaviours and their families. This programme involves 36 hours of therapeutic treatment per week for around three weeks. Ongoing evaluation, follow-up and liaison are also a key component.
For children...we provide a Child Focus Consultancy
Child Focus Consultancy is a branch of the Parent Infant Clinic specialising in offering assessment, treatment and consultation when there are concerns about children and adolescents. We work closely with parents, concerned professionals and the children and young people themselves to address worrying behaviours, identify underlying causes and treat emotional disturbances. Issues we have successfully worked with include: low self esteem, eating distress, bullying, bereavement, aggressive behaviours, anxiety, family breakdown and depression.
For parents...we offer early support.
Parents who have worries about their infant or child can contact us for an informal discussion in order to assist them in deciding whether or not an assessment could be beneficial. Support can be offered to parents around: parenting st

rategies, identifying and responding to their child's emotional state, and managing their own emotions.
For professionals...we offer training.
Professionals who work with infants or children can arrange for consultations about specific issues
or infants, or on going supervision from our team of experienced therapists.
