Certificate or Diploma module

PIP 1 - Infant development

Introduction to the module

This module can either be taken as part of the School's Diploma in Parent Infant Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy or as a stand-alone one-year certificate course in Infant Mental Health.1

Each term considers a different aspect of infant development. The seminars can be attended in London or online. Copies of relevant texts are provided in advance of the seminars.

The module includes material about the first months of life, looking at topics such as birth, breastfeeding, brain development, the role of fathers and the challenges faced by refugee families.

Why this module?

Join this module to gain a deeper understanding of infant development, including the family and social setting.

1This is a module from the School's UKCP-recognised Diploma in Parent Infant Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. Theory seminars within the Diploma are divided into two streams - Parent Infant Psychotherapy (PIP) and Psychoanalysis (PA). Some modules from these streams are also made available as stand-alone certificate courses.

The next entry to this module is in September 2017.

The module consists of 15 fortnightly seminars arranged over three terms.
