Effective approaches to help challenging children

A three-day course

June 19th-21st 2019

10am to 4pm

Young demanding child

Working with challenging children, or those with special needs or autistic behaviours, can be physically and emotionally demanding.

This course will clarify many of the assumptions and misconceptions held by parents and professionals that can hinder a challenging child's development. Through case examples, demonstrations and video, parents and professionals will be given effective techniques and strategies to use in everyday relationships and that can lead to better outcomes.

To give parent and professionals:

  • A deeper understanding of difficulties that can be encountered at home or in the school
  • Stronger skills in making daily interactions more effective
  • An increased awareness of useful strategies and the power and effectiveness of intervening appropriately

  • Think and reflect on each child's individual needs
  • Develop practical skills in helping challenging children
  • Explore ways to make more effective interventions
  • Employ successful strategies when working with teachers and staff

    Day 3 - Friday June 21st 2019

    10:15-11:45 Emotional challenges: Emotions spoken and incorporated – Parent/Staff regular support
    11:45-12:00 break
    12:00-13:30 Working with special needs nursery/school: Working together.
    13:30-14:30 Lunch break
    14:30-16:00 Conclusions: Gentle and firm, showing new possibilities
